As endoscopists we strive for excellence but what does excellence look like? This review by Colin Rees provides a great snapshot. The sands are shifting and I rather suspect that much of this data will be captured by AI in the future. Make no mistake, AI will not make these KPI's obsolete but more absolute!  What is an acceptable polypectomy bleeding rate? What is the minimum number of EMR's we need to perform in a year to maintain expertise? AI and the UK National Endoscopy Database is likely to tell us.

Rees CJ. Expert opinions and evidence for colonoscopy KPI's. Gut 2016;65;2045-60ic lesions. GIE 2003;58(6);S1-43
